Please note that this word was specifically invented to describe Kirk and Spock’s relationship within the context of the story. Roddenberry didn’t have to invent it at all. He didn’t have to include ‘lover’ among the meanings either. But he did. And he did. So THEY did, if you get what I’m saying.
